Men’s Club
Overview
The Temple Sinai’s Men’s Club is an organization of spirited members dedicated to serving the general congregation of Temple Sinai. It provides a consistent, intelligent forum for religious, social, civic, and educational programs that reflect the interests of its members. The Men’s Club focuses on Jewish values and carrying out its principles, while providing an opportunity to develop friendships through social and community activities. The Men’s Club primary goal is to organize fund raising events to help further the Temple.
The Men’s Club sponsors a variety of programs throughout the year. Once a month, we hold a wonderful full breakfast buffet including lox, eggs, bagels and much more which features a guest speaker. Our speakers have included sports and media personalities, community, business and religious leaders and experts on important health issues, social concerns and other topics. The Club also sponsors a variety of recreational activities including outings to minor league baseball games, hockey games and evenings at the theater. Funds raised by the Men’s Club benefit the advancement of Temple Sinai Congregation and our local Jewish Community.

President of Men’s Club: Archie Weitman
Arthur “Archie” Weitman was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. Archie’s first job was with Paramount Picture television in NY as a TV cameraman and technician, but the Korean war interrupted his youthful plans. Archie was drafted in 1952 and shipped off to Germany as part of a photo company. Archie and his team covered several events and stories in Germany keeping the families at home up to date.
Archie and his wife, Lorraine, were fortunate enough to be able to live off base with a German family in their living room. They were witness to several funny events by their host family. Shortly after returning to American Archie and Lorraine welcomed their daughter Michele and three years later Allen completed the family.
Archie worked part-time jobs as a stagehand and driving cab. With a young family to take care of Archie joined the electrical union and worked his way up to journeyman. Archie and his family moved to Mamaroneck, NY and finally settled in Rockland County, NY. In 1993 Archie and Lorraine drove across country to Las Vegas, joined the Temple and became active members. Archie enjoys his friends and loves his life in Las Vegas. Getting older has its ups and downs, but as Archie states “it is better than the alternative.” Archie looks forward to family visits and going to visit the grand-kids.
