Israel Video Diary From Former Congregants Lana & Lew

Dear Friends

Lana & Lew Gitlin made Aliyah (emigrated) to Israel recently. Here is a link to a first video diary installment by them which also explains some of their plans for setting up a Reform Temple in their new home.

They will be sending more videos of their life and Israeli Society to that we can continue to build a gesher chai, a living bridge, between us in America and the land and people of Israel.

Shabbat Shalom

Below is a link to a short film that the Post Bnei Mitzvah/Confirmation Class made about one message from the holiday of Tu B’Shvat. You might need to turn up the volume but it makes a great point about sowing seeds for the future.

Best wishes

Inspiring Words For Worship – Your Input Please

I want your input on something. Last night was a very interesting ritual committee meeting. In it, we talked about the words which would describe our ideal worship experience.

Among them were warmth, passion, joy, inclusive, participatory, transformative and active.

What words would you use to describe your ideal worship experience?

Don’t Harden Your Heart

This week at services I will be talking about the need to avoid what happened to Pharaoh in the Torah portion. God hardens Pharaoh’s heart. When our heart is hardened it means we do not feel compassion for our fellow humans. It means we do not even bother trying to see things from their point of view. When our heart is hardened we turn away from those we love. It is never too late to soften our heart, to open our soul to others and to forgive and be reconciled.

Three of our pictures have been selected as nominees for the URJ’s Facebook Photo contest this year, in the category of Congregational Life, all taken at the recent Red Rock Havdalah.

I don’t know if you want to spread the word via our social media and ask people to click the links and vote for the Temple Sinai pics, but if so, here’s where you can find our three entries:

If any of our pics get the most votes, our winning picture would appear in Reform Judasim Magazine sometime early next year.
